As part of its commitment to advancing the medical field of genetics and genomics, the ACMG Foundation for Genetic and Genomic Medicine offers a series of national fellowship training, endowed, travel and special memorial awards to recognize its members and others.

The number of medical genetics experts needed to diagnose and treat patients with genetic disorders has fallen chronically short of demand for decades. Consequently, attracting talented medical professionals to the genetics and genomics workforce remains a core objective of the ACMG Foundation. To this end, the Foundation has developed the Next Generation Fellowship and Residency program with several different specialty tracks. These awards will

  • Advance education, research and standards of practice in medical genetics.
  • Develop and expand clinical and laboratory expertise in medical genetics in the United States.
  • Initiate and develop a broad-based infrastructure for industry funding of high-quality projects in the fields of medical genetics.

As donors are secured and as funds permit, awards will be made available to fund the Next Generation Fellowship and Residency programs listed below.

  • Medical Biochemical Genetics Fellowship
  • Clinical Genetics and Genomics Residency
  • Laboratory Genetics & Genomics Fellowship
  • Clinical Biochemical Genetics Fellowship
  • Ophthalmic Genetics Fellowship
